The Main Library 1st floor renovation project is planned for this summer

Collections and materials on 1st floor

Starting May 15 through late August, collections and materials stored on the Main Library's 1st floor will only be available through our interlibrary loan service due to building renovations.

Materials located in the 1B wing of the 1st floor include:

  • Media such as DVDs and VHS tapes
  • Materials in Chinese and Japanese
  • Oversize materials

Getting help with materials

Before May 15, check out any materials from the 1st floor that you may need during the summer months. We can extend the loan period limits on checked out materials. Contact University Libraries if you have any questions.

About the renovations

During the summer, the 1B wing of the 1st floor will be sealed off and renovated to install a new state-of-the-art HVAC system to manage indoor air temperature, humidity and air quality. New ductwork and fire suppression technology will be installed as well.

In addition, the existing drop ceilings will be removed, exposing the architectural honeycomb ceilings found throughout the Main Library.
