Enhancing the Student Experience: New Leadership in Student Affairs, Disability Resource Center and Dean of Students Office
The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce three new interim appointments that will enhance the university's commitment to the student experience.
New Interim Vice President for Student Affairs
Amanda Kraus has been appointed to the newly created role of interim vice president for student affairs, effective Aug. 5, reporting directly to the provost. In this pivotal position, Amanda will oversee the Dean of Students Office, Disability Resource Center (DRC), Housing and Residential Life, Campus Health, and Campus Recreation. As the university's senior leader for extracurricular student experiences, Amanda will complement academic pursuits and partner with units across campus to foster an environment that supports academic and personal growth.
Amanda brings over two decades of higher education experience to this role. Prior to her current position, Amanda served as the assistant vice president for campus life and executive director of the Disability Resource Center, which is one of the nation's largest, recognized internationally as a model of progressive service delivery. Amanda also serves as an associate professor of practice in the Center for the Study of Higher Education where she has instructed courses on student services and student development for 15 years.
New Interim Director of the Disability Resource Center
Supporting Amanda in her new role, Cheryl Muller has been appointed interim director of the Disability Resource Center, effective Aug. 12. With over 30 years of experience at the center, including her previous position as senior associate director and access consultant, she has been instrumental in shaping center policies and implementing innovative accommodation strategies.
New Interim Dean of Students
Additionally, Chrissy Lieberman has been named interim dean of students, reporting to the interim vice president for student affairs, effective Aug. 12. Chrissy brings a wealth of experience to this role, having previously served as associate dean of students, overseeing critical areas including student assistance and accountability, and academic integrity. She has been instrumental in developing and providing educational programs for the campus community on important issues, such as student conduct policies and academic integrity standards.
Throughout her career at the university, Chrissy has demonstrated a strong commitment to student welfare and experience. As interim dean of students, she is expected to continue enhancing the student experience, fostering a supportive campus culture, and ensuring students have access to the resources and guidance they need to thrive both academically and personally.
