UAlert Emergency Notification System Reminder and New SafeCats App
Reminder to Check Your Contact Details to Receive UAlert Text Notifications
As announced earlier this month, the university upgraded to a new UAlert emergency notification system on Aug. 18.
Student and employee university email addresses and U.S. cellphone numbers are pulled directly from UAccess and added to the new UAlert system, registering them automatically to receive UAlert emergency notifications via email and text.
A 10-digit U.S. cellphone number must be listed in UAccess to automatically receive UAlert text notifications. UAccess syncs with the UAlert system nightly to update cellphone numbers.
How to verify, add or update your cellphone information in UAccess
- Log in to UAccess Employee.
- Select the "Personal Information" tile.
- Under “Personal Details,” select “Phone Numbers.”
- Add or update your information, and select “Save.”
What if I don’t want to include my personal cellphone number in UAccess?
You can still receive UAlert text notifications by adding your cellphone number directly in your UAlert profile in the new system that launched Aug. 18.
To confirm, add or update your cellphone information in your new UAlert profile, follow these steps:
- Log in to your UAlert profile (using NetID).
- Accept the terms of use.
- If you do not have a mobile phone listed, select “Add,” enter your number, and follow the prompts to confirm your phone.
Visit the UAlert page for more information, including FAQ, step-by-step instructions on how to view or update your contact information.
You can also learn more about how to opt in to receive UAlert messages specific to Greater Phoenix (including Chandler and Gilbert), Oro Valley and Sierra Vista.
Download SafeCats, the New Official Safety App
The new SafeCats app provides access to campus safety tools all in one place to help students, faculty and staff stay prepared, informed and connected with several features, including:
- Receiving UAlert notifications via the SafeCats app.
- Sharing your location with a friend on your way home with Friend Walk.
- Discreetly exiting an uncomfortable situation with Social Escape.
- Scheduling automatic check-ins with family and friends with WorkAlone.
- Reporting concerning behaviors easily to the Threat Assessment and Management Team.
You must enable push notifications to receive UAlert messages through the SafeCats app.
You will also need to enable location services in the app and on your phone to share your location in real time in case of an emergency.
