Take Charge of Your Personal Data
In recognition of Data Privacy Week, Jan. 26-30, the University Privacy team reminds you that you have the power to take charge of your personal data.
Data collection happens with nearly every transaction and interaction online. University Privacy is focused on the responsible handling of personal information, safeguarding individual rights, and fostering an environment of trust and security.
The University Privacy Statement is a good place to start to understand the university’s role in securing and protecting certain types of data including academic records, medical records, financial information and more.
From employee records, disability information and HIPAA to information security, archives and research, the University Privacy team collaborates with key institutional partners across the university to develop and execute privacy strategy that safeguards data. Reach out to any of those privacy partners if you have questions or concerns.
- Stay alert to email scams and forward suspected phishing attempts in your university email to phishing@arizona.edu.
- Report a data privacy incident relating to inappropriate use or disclosure of personal data.
- Report a privacy concern, including lost or stolen items, an IT security incident, or improper disclosure of sensitive data (requires NetID).
Explore topics relating to data privacy through the National Cybersecurity Alliance, which advocates for the safe use of technology and educates people on how to stay safe online.
