Employees are encouraged to review the building emergency plan for their work location/s annually. Taking a few minutes now can help you know what to do, where to go and where to find important safety resources during an emergency.

What is a building emergency plan?

Building emergency plans provide emergency procedures specific to each building, along with diagrams identifying safety features and resources, which may include:

  • Building exits
  • ADA (wheelchair) accessible secure room locations
  • AED and medical kit locations
  • Evacuation points
  • Panic button locations
  • Controlled building entry points

Familiarizing yourself with your building's emergency plan can help you understand the emergency procedures that apply to your workplace and your role.
