Leadership Announcement – R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy
Dean Rick Schnellmann has announced he will step down from his role as dean, effective June 30. Dr. Schnellmann will return to his tenured faculty position in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. He will take a one-year research leave before resuming teaching in July 2026.
In a message to the College of Pharmacy community, Provost Prelock expressed gratitude to Dr. Schnellmann for his leadership and exceptional contributions to the college and the university over the past nine years. We wish him continued success as he transitions back to his tenured faculty role and continues his impactful research.
The Provost announced Dr. Brian Erstad, professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, will serve as interim dean for the college starting July 1. Dr. Erstad is well known and respected in his field, both nationally and internationally, and is viewed as a valued colleague and leader by his peers.
More information on the search for Dr. Schnellmann's successor will be forthcoming.
