Robbins is being honored for the University's commitment to preparing students for the new economy and success in leveraging and commercializing University research. "I've always been proud of the University of Arizona's long-standing history of serving our state and region, and of the impact we have had for the many communities that surround us," Robbins said in his acceptance remarks.

Among Isabel Barton's passions: an interdisciplinary approach to mining sustainability and diversity among students studying, and pursuing careers in, mineral resources. "Though my own experiences have been largely positive thanks to my supportive colleagues, I understand how it can sometimes feel like a foreign or unfriendly environment," Barton says. "This motivates me to really make sure that students from all different backgrounds have an opportunity to pursue careers in mineral resources."

The award recognizes organizations that provide integrated worksite wellness offerings and engage in data-driven programming and cross-sector collaborations. "The pandemic highlighted many things we already did well, but it also created opportunities to be better and launch new initiatives," says Helena A. Rodrigues, vice president and chief human resources officer.

From creating a tutoring program for Indigenous students to coming to class dressed as a whiteboard, faculty members go above and beyond. This year, the Awards of Distinction celebrate exceptional efforts during an especially challenging year.
