Subject: Diversity and Inclusion Symposium
Date: Feb 24, 2023

The Diversity and Inclusion Symposium, presented by the Office of the Provost, is March 16-17. The symposium – with the theme this year of "Rise Together" – is a free, unique opportunity for faculty, staff and grad students to learn about and discuss critical issues related to diversity and inclusion in higher education.

This year's keynote speakers are Dr. Jonathan P. Higgins, an award-winning educator, journalist and media critic who examines the intersections of identity, gender and race in entertainment; and Dr. Kevin Kumashiro, an internationally recognized expert on school reform, educational equity and social justice. In addition, participants gather for facilitated discussions on critical issues affecting higher education, such as unconscious bias, student success for marginalized students, intersectionality and unlearning harmful actions.

Day one will be in-person with a few virtual sessions. Day two will be entirely virtual. Register and choose your sessions to "Rise Together" with your colleagues to create, cultivate and maintain a more diverse and inclusive community.
