Proposals are being accepted for sessions to be presented at The Way Up Conference that will be held Oct. 22-24 at the Double Tree Hotel in Tucson.

These conferences are aimed at UA women faculty, staff, administrators and appointed personnel who have chosen a profession in higher education. They are designed to cultivate leadership development, networking and mentoring opportunities as well as promoting educational and professional growth.

The theme for this year's conference is "Pathways: Bridging Past to Future for Women in Higher Education." Sessions will run one hour in length and an interactive experiential format is preferred.

Topics may include, but are not limited to: diversity, conflict management, team building, personal development, connections between the community college and the university, women of color, working with boards, transformational leadership and other subjects for women in higher education.

Proposals should be two pages in length and include: title; presenter's name, title, institution, address, telephone and facsimile numbers, e-mail address; session format (containing participant involvement and experiential components); session summary (one page); description of proposed session, including objectives and intended audience; abstract for inclusion in the program (three sentences); and a list of audio-visual equipment and room set-up.

All presenters and session participants must register for the conference and pay their own registration fee if they plan to attend additional conference sessions.

Deadline for proposals is Monday, May 1. They may be submitted to Susan Mance, at the University of Phoenix, Southern Arizona Campus; 5099 E. Grand Road, Suite120; or call 881.6512 extension 155.

The planning committee will notify submitters of its decisions.
