Union Gallery to close during Student Union construction

Karen Johnson, who has a joint appointment as lecturer/clinical nurse specialist at the UA College of Nursing and at University Medical Center, was selected by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses as the Outstanding Advance Practice Nurse for 2000.

The national award recognizes a clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner who functions as an advanced practitioner and demonstrates the key components of advanced practice nursing, including leadership, advanced clinical skills, research application, outcome-focused practice, cost containment, quality assurance, mentoring, problem-solving and communication.

UA Nursing Faculty Members Awarded Grant
UA College of Nursing faculty members Judith Effken, associate professor, and Julie Townsend, senior lecturer, were awarded $13,250 from the UA's New Learning and Environments and Instructional Technologies Grants Program for a study evaluating the use of laptop computer technology to support communication between instructors and nursing students in community settings.
