Gov. Jane Hull is sponsoring an Employee Appreciation Day in Tucson on Friday, March 10, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the State Complex, 4000 W. Congress.
Hull would like to invite all state employees who work in and near Tucson to join her in celebration of the work done for the citizens of Arizona.
A Phoenix celebration is scheduled for Thursday, March 9.
The Tucson celebration will include a classic car show, an appearance by Wilbur and Wilma Wildcat, and informational displays of the wide variety of services and programs provided by state employees.
"I join Governor Hull in recognizing the extraordinary accomplishments and commitment of state employees. I encourage UA employees to attend this celebration, and I request supervisors grant release time to support employee participation in this state-sponsored event," said University of Arizona President Peter Likins.
Scheduled to speak is Arizona Secretary of State Betsy Bayless and state Rep. Herschella Horton, D-Tucson.
The Tucson Employee Celebration Committee is currently selling food tickets for use with vendors as the celebration site for $3. The tickets will be used as entry into a drawing for a variety of door prizes. Tickets are available through UA Human Resources, University Services Building Room 113. Call Nik Groesser at 621-9329 for more information or to purchase tickets.
