UA's Eller College to Host Annual Executive Development Conference

Oct. 3, 2001

Lute Olson, renowned head coach of the University of Arizona men's basketball program will headline this year's Executive Development Conference, sponsored annually by the Eller College of Business and Public Administration.

Since 1964, corporate leaders throughout the world have attended the conference. Participants have returned to their organizations with new skills and insights that enable them to make an immediate impact. Their endorsements of the course is demonstrated each year through the ongoing representation of their colleagues. More than 80 percent of each class enrolled is on the recommendation of former participants.

The purpose of the conference, say organizers, is to help participants understand the difference between supervising employees and leading people; teach them how to create value in their organization; create the opportunity to work with experienced instructors; provide insights into personal leadership style; and model a collaborative learning environment that adapts quickly to changes in the competitive environment.

Topics covered during the conference include organizational effectiveness, competition and strategy, management information systems, marketing, and finance and economics.
