David A. Gantz, a UA law professor, is one of four members of an international panel arbitrating a trade dispute between Mexico and the United States stemming from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

The issue deals with the U.S. not permitting Mexican trucks full access beyond border commercial zones due to safety concerns. In response, Mexico has closed off its border to American trucks. Talks will begin in the near future.

Besides teaching international law and directing graduate law studies at the UA, Gantz is also associate director of the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade.
