Recording artist Linda Ronstadt, jazz great Paul Horn and Harvey Brooks (bass player with the Doors, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix) are just a few of the more than 40 individuals who attended The University of Arizona for "Grammy in the Schools" on Jan. 12.

The event was sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the sponsor of the Grammy Awards, in partnership with the UA School of Music and Dance.

"Grammy in the Schools" was a day of workshops, panels and concerts in which top name performers, producers, managers, engineers, composers and radio personalities worked with more than 1,500 high school students from Phoenix, Tucson and across Arizona.

"Grammy in the Schools" is one of the festivities leading up to the Grammy Awards at the end of February in New York.

The event was open to any high school student who is a part of a school music ensemble. The event provides students with the opportunity to interact with professionals who are active in the music industry and explore career opportunities in the music field. Participants include recording artist Patti Horn, movie soundtrack composer Guy Moon, conductor Luis Torres, songwriter Paul Colwell, music critic Dan Buckley and many more.
