Cultural Competency Workshop for Those Working With American Indians
The Shared Service for Special Populations, American Indian Oncology Program and the Native American Cancer Research Partnership are sponsoring an innovative cultural competency workshop that was developed for those working with American Indian populations.
Stories from Our Community: Beyond Cultural Competency Workshop will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Arizona Cancer Center Kiewet Auditorium.
This workshop will be taught by American Indians and will include a panel and presentation by American Indian community members and tribal leaders. The day will end with discussions among the participants and presenters.
Workshop coordinators want to provide examples of how American Indian community members view research and describe methods that are effective when conducting research in American Indian communities.
Registration, due Wednesday, Oct. 1, is limited to 75 people. For information call Agnes Attakai, program coordinator, American Indian Oncology Program at the Arizona Cancer Center, (520) 626-4092.
