Robbins picked by Arizona Chamber as the 2021 Transformational Leader
The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry has selected President Robert C. Robbins as the Transformational Leader of 2021.
The annual awards honor Arizona community and business leaders and elected officials who have gone above and beyond to enhance the state's global competitiveness and advance the priorities of its business community.
In selecting Robbins, the chamber cited the University's "keen focus on preparing students for the 'new economy' and leveraging the University's existing research capacities to bring innovations to market."
"I've always been proud of the University of Arizona's long-standing history of serving our state and region, and of the impact we have had for the many communities that surround us," Robbins said in recorded remarks played during the June 23 event. "But I especially want to highlight, give credit to, and thank everyone at the UA for their tireless efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic."
The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry aims to represent the interests of commerce and industry in a way that enhances the state economy. The chamber says its member organizations employ around 250,000 Arizonans.
The awards event had both in-person and online attendees. The chamber also presented awards for Senator of the Year, Representative of the Year and Doug Yonko Volunteer of the Year. You can learn about the other honorees on the chamber's website.
