University Analytics and Institutional Research, a team of more than 50 analysts, data scientists and support staff, is not only the source for institutional data, but also the go-to resource where colleagues can learn what that data says about the University, and how they can use it to advance their units' missions. "I want to get to a point where people are not thinking about data as a need or a check box," says the University's chief data officer, Ravneet Chadha. Instead, he wants them "looking at it to learn more about the place where they work or go to school."

From general medicine to physical therapy, employees can get many of their medical needs met without leaving campus. Campus Health accepts University employee health insurance plans and offers a pharmacy that can often fill prescriptions at or below usual co-pays.

Faculty and staff from the Black and disabled communities are connecting through two affinity groups. The Black faculty and staff affinity group aims to "advocate for those who are marginalized, and to uplift the voices, work and amazing scholarship of the staff and faculty who are Black at the University of Arizona," says Celeste Atkins, assistant professor of practice in the Graduate College.

The renovated Chemistry building and newly constructed The Commons reflect the importance of collaborative learning. "We have come a long way in our understanding of how people learn," says Lisa Elfring, associate vice provost for instruction and assessment. "It's very clear from a lot of educational research that the more students engage in social interactions that are focused on the content they are learning, the more they have a chance to practice ideas and practice making mistakes, receiving feedback and turning that into better ideas."

Under the program, students pay a flat rate of $250 for textbooks per semester, regardless of major or course load. "This is all about helping students," says Cindy Hawk, assistant director for the book division at University of Arizona BookStores.
