For the third year in a row, the University has received the Healthy Arizona Worksites Program platinum award, which recognizes employers that are making evidence-based efforts to support the health and well-being of their employees and their families.

Fewer than 60 employers statewide received the platinum-level award, the highest honor given.

"This award demonstrates our commitment to supporting our employees – not only as members of our workforce but, more importantly, as members of our community," said Helena A. Rodrigues, vice president and chief human resources officer. "We want to be an employer that enables each member of our community to achieve their best both professionally and personally, which involves many initiatives to address their different needs."

Many campus units contribute to supporting employee health and wellness, including the Disability Resource Center, Life & Work Connections, Occupational Health, Risk Management and others. The DRC offers guidance for inclusive and accessible workplace practices while Risk Management offers worksite health and safety consultations.

Life & Work Connections offers a wide range of services and resources related to employee physical and mental well-being as well as guidance on child care, elder care and parenting. Through a partnership with ComPsych, a global provider of employee assistance programs, the offerings recently were broadened to include access to financial and legal resources, relocation services and expanded employee assistance counseling for employees and members of their households.

"University supervisors have told us how their teams benefit from worksite wellness programming, and we know that it is a factor in recruitment and retention," Rodrigues said. "We are proud to offer these services internally, and to promote our approach throughout the state of Arizona."
