NIH Tribal Health Leader Coming to Tucson, Phoenix Campuses
David R. Wilson, director of the Tribal Health Research Office at the National Institutes of Health, will visit the University of Arizona Tucson campus on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Wednesday, Jan. 22, and the Phoenix campus on Thursday, Jan. 23.
The Tucson visit at the Health Sciences Innovation Building (1670 E. Drachman Street) begins will feature panels on the NIH Strategic Plan for Tribal Health Research and other initiatives as well as meetings with students and faculty. The visit to the Phoenix Biomedical Campus (475 N. Fifth Street) begins at will include individual sessions with students and faculty.
Wilson was appointed and has served as the first director of the Tribal Health Research Office since January 2017. He works to build a unified NIH presence with which to engage and ensure input from tribal leaders across the nation, and aims to expand training opportunities for American Indian and Alaskan Native communities.
