Fall Fusion Mini Camp - Mission: Space

Fall Fusion Mini Camp at Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium is a two-day fall break camp featuring science activities, arts and crafts, exploration of science exhibits, and planetarium shows for kids in grades two through five. All sessions are taught by educators with a passion for inspiring a love of learning and fun!

Whether they’re dreaming of becoming astronauts, engineers, or scientists, campers will have the opportunity to develop their science skills and creativity while learning about the universe.

Two-day sessions

Grades 2-3: Monday–Tuesday, Oct. 12-13
Grades 4-5: Wednesday–Thursday, Oct. 14-15

Drop off time: 8:30-9 a.m.
Camp Hours: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Pick up time: 3:30-4 p.m.

Camp Activity Highlights

• Astronaut Training: Take on hands-on challenges while gloved up like an astronaut working on a spacewalk.
• Escape Velocity: Experiment to discover how rockets overcome Earth’s gravity to travel into space.
• Forces of Our Solar System: Explore the effects of gravity and centripetal force on Earth and throughout our solar system through two hands-on experiments.
• Stomp Rockets: Design, build, and launch paper rockets, then analyze their flights, make improvements, and launch again.
• Fields of View: Tube Telescopes: Build tube telescopes and compare the fields of view of the Hubble and Roman Space Telescopes using the Moon as a guide.
• Exoplanet Creation: Dream up a unique exoplanet, give it its own scientific characteristics, and bring it to life through art while practicing how to communicate scientific ideas.
