In a message sent on December 23, Provost Patricia Prelock announced that Dr. Brian P. Anderson has been appointed dean of the Wyant College of Optical Sciences, effective Jan. 5, 2026.

Dr. Anderson has served as interim dean since July 1, 2025, providing steady and effective leadership during a period of transition. A member of the optical sciences faculty since 2001, he has been deeply engaged in graduate teaching and research throughout his career. Since 2019, he has served as associate dean for Graduate Academic Affairs, where he led significant growth and development of the college's graduate programs and guided, advised and mentored hundreds of master's and doctoral students.

Dr. Anderson is deeply committed to advancing the mission of the Wyant College of Optical Sciences by educating students with practical and highly competitive technical skills, maintaining academic excellence and supporting cutting-edge optics research.
