UA Women's Studies Groups, Celebrate Anniversaries, Organizing Women's Calendar

Jan. 25, 2000

Academic and research groups associated with women at the University of Arizona are organizing a web site and accepting submissions from departments that will be compiled into a calendar of topics concerning women.

The year 2000 marks the 25th anniversary of the UA women's studies department, the 20th anniversary of The Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW) and the 15th anniversary of the Women's Studies Advisory Council (WOSAC).

In honor of these celebrations, the three groups are organizing a year of speakers, projects and fund-raising events. One of these projects is to design and maintain a website that will serve as a calendar of affairs for community and University events relating to women and gender.
Departments are invited to submit these types of activities and events to Jan Monk, research social scientist with the Southwest Institute for Research on Women, at the women's studies department, Communications Building, Room 108, fax information to 621.1533, or e-mail Jan Monk at jmonk@u.arizona.edu. The website will be updated regularly throughout the year.
