UA President Peter Likins recently announced the appointment of Pete Perona, as the UA Information Security Officer in addition to his current position as interim executive director of the Center for Computing and Information Technology.

Perona will report directly to the president. He is in charge of overseeing security and privacy issues within the University including: coordinating University systems data access and network and computer security, performing an annual assessment on privacy and security issues and submitting a formal report, acting as coordinator and contact person for privacy and security issues, overseeing implementation of the recommendations on privacy and security and chairing the Information Security Advisory Board.

Likins also would like to acknowledge the contributions of all the individuals appointed to the Information Security Advisory Council who were charged with assisting in addressing privacy and security concerns.

The council has now completed its task and submitted its final report.
The members of the Information Security Advisory Council were: Betty Atwater, Terry Bressi, Roger Caldwell, co-chair, Lori Goldman, Patricia Hutton, Sharon Kha, Michael Moore, Pete Perona, co-chair, Dick Roberts, Ron Smith, Tara Taylor, Gary Wagner, John Wilson, Madge Mock and Michael Proctor.
