Second 'A Store' Opening in Park Place
UA retail students learn how lessons from the classroom work in the real world.

The second “A Store” will open in Tucson’s Park Place mall next week. Like other new store debuts, the Sept. 13-15 grand opening will include giveaways and drawings. What’s different is that the young faces behind the counter are most likely on their way to bigger and better things in the retail world.

The A Store is staffed by students from the John and Doris Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences at The University of Arizona. It’s essentially their laboratory, a team project run by the group Students in Free Enterprise in conjunction with the UofA BookStores. Like the first A Store, in Tucson Mall, this one will sell UA insignia clothing and gifts.

The students who sign up to work in the A Store are there to learn about concepts including visual merchandising, marketing, human resources and buying. The customers could come from anywhere, so the store is the real deal for showing their wares.

The new A Store is located near the food court in Park Place. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
