UA's Dr. Thomas Purdon Elected ACOG President

Dr. Thomas F. Purdon recently was installed as president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) at the group's annual clinical meeting in Chicago. Purdon is vice chair and associate professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He was medical director of University Physicians from 1994-99 and of University Medical Center from 1994-98.


Sleep Disorders Center at AHSC Maintains Accreditation

The Sleep Disorders Center at the Arizona Health Sciences Center recently was re-accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). To receive this accreditation, a center must meet or exceed all standards for professional, quality health care as designated by the academy. The facility's accreditation status is re-evaluated every five years. The Sleep Disorders Center originally was accredited in 1984 and continues to meet or exceed the AASM standards for accreditation.


Rebecca Dahl Named Director of Human Subjects Protection Program

Rebecca Dahl has been named director of the University of Arizona Human Subjects Protection Program. Prior to joining the UA, she was clinical research coordinator at Pima Research Foundation and site director/manager of the Community Nursing Organization at Carondelet Health Network. She has been a member of the adjunct faculty of the UA College of Nursing since 1995.

UMC Appoints Richard deLeon director of Pharmacy Services

Richard F. deLeon, who has more than 30 years experience in the pharmacy profession, recently was appointed director of pharmacy services at University Medical Center. Most recently, deLeon was director of pharmacy for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children and Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi, Hawaii. He also was pharmacy director at the University of Michigan.
