New Director of Digital Arts Announced by UA College of Fine Arts

The UA College of Fine Arts has named James M. (Mike) Holcomb as the director of digital arts and associate professor of art. His appointment is effective July 1.

Holcomb currently is the director of the New Media Center at the University of Oregon and associate professor of art. He received a bachelor of arts degree in art from Central Washington University where he also completed graduate studies in film and television and in instructional media design. He earned a master of fine arts degree in fine and applied arts (visual design/computer graphics) from the University of Oregon.
Along with his leadership in technology, Holcomb brings to the college a combination of attributes: he is an accomplished artist with professional experience who has a tremendous record of success in engaging students and faculty in new media creative research and in attracting corporate sponsors and external support.
