John Marchalonis, chairman of the University of Arizona department of microbiology and immunology, was invited to speak at the Eighth International Congress of the Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology in July. Marchalonis is a pioneer in the investigation of the molecular evolution of immunity and was one of four invited plenary speakers.
In addition, Marchalonis has been selected to be included in the second edition of the "2,000 Outstanding Scientists of the 20th Century," scheduled to be published later this year. The volume is published by the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge, England and "celebrates the achievements of 2,000 of the world's living scientists."
