Hillel Hosts Holocaust Memorial Vigil Feb. 21

Feb. 21, 2000

The UA Hillel Foundation 8th Annual Conference on the Holocaust: Memorial Vigil will be held Monday, Feb. 21 at noon on the UA Mall.

More than 22,000 names of men, women and children lost in the Holocaust will be recited during this powerful ceremony. Short programs, during the first and last hours of the 25-hour vigil, will open and close the ceremony. Information will be displayed on the mall throughout. Everyone is encouraged to contribute names to Hillel and to participate in the vigil.

Also in February, the Conference sponsored a Holocaust memorial Photo and Poetry Contest. Entries are still being accepted at Hillel. The contest focuses on works relating to issues of tolerance, repression, sadness, survival, remembrance and reconciliation. Works will be on display during the vigil and afterwards at Hillel. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the vigil.
