The Martha Graham Dance Company, scheduled to perform in Tucson on Saturday, Sept. 30 as part of the UApresents 2000/2001 Season, has canceled its fall tour.

"We regret that Tucson audiences won't have the opportunity to see this remarkable company," said UApresents Executive Director Ken Foster. "We look forward to presenting the Graham Company in the future when their current difficulties are resolved."

Company agent Gary Lindsey said in a letter to UApresents that "As articles from The New York Times and the Village Voice detail, the Martha Graham Center, including its performing company, the Martha Graham Dance Company _ is currently suspending operations through the end of calendar year 2000.

"It is sincerely hoped that, with a reorganization of management and artistic direction and a redefining of its relationship with the Graham Trust, the Center will resume activities in 2001, the company's 75 anniversary year."

Subscribers can exchange their seats for the performance for any event in the UApresents 2000/2001 season, receive a full refund, or donate the value of their tickets as a tax-deductible contribution to UApresents.

New subscribers are offered the Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 performance by Pilobolus in place of the canceled production. Individual tickets to UApresents events will go on sale to the general public on Sunday, Sept. 10. For information, call the Centennial Hall Box Office at 621-3341.
