TUCSON, Ariz. — The fourth annual University of Arizona Women's Hackathon will take place Oct. 19-21 as part of the 2018 TENWEST Festival, encouraging curiosity, discovery and social awareness in the arts, entrepreneurship, technology and sustainability.

Founded by the University of Arizona Libraries in 2015 as the Women Techmakers Tucson Hackathon, the UA Women's Hackathon served as the only women-only hackathon in the Southwest. In 2017, more than 220 participants representing all gender identities and expressions attended the event to incorporate as many voices, experiences, networks and skillsets as possible. Students from the Universidad La Salle Noroeste A.C. in Cajeme, Sonora, Mexico will attend the hackathon this year.

This free event provides an opportunity for participants of all levels of technical expertise to collaboratively develop tech-driven projects and ideas over the course of two days. The event is co-sponsored by Microsoft, and GDG Tucson DevFest is an event partner. No computer programming experience is required. Disability-related accommodations and childcare services will be available on site, as well.

All workshops and seminars are free, but some require RSVPs to attend. Check the event schedule for more information.
