April 8, 2019 Media Advisory: UA Gearing Up for 45th Annual Spring Fling

TUCSON, Ariz. — Spring Fling, one of the nation's largest student-run carnivals, will return to the UA Mall April 12-14. The 45th annual event is expected to draw more than 25,000 guests. Spring Fling has been a local tradition since 1974 and continues to bring carnival rides, games, food and fun to Tucson. Proceeds from the event directly support UA student clubs, organizations and local nonprofits. The Spring Fling team will be collecting canned goods on behalf of the UA Campus Pantry, which addresses food insecurity on campus. Suggested donations include peanut butter, jelly, cereal, hearty soups and canned protein items. FRENSHIP, this year's headliner, will perform Friday at 8 p.m. Other Spring Fling performers include the Black N Blue Crew, The Sometimes, Mariachi Corazon de Tucson, Viva Folklorico, Sophia Rankin, Quadrant 44 and 17Blacklidge. Kids Korner returns to Spring Fling this year with Saturday and Sunday presentations and activities. Admission is $5 for the general public. Those with a UA CatCard and military identification, and children age 7 and younger, receive admission at no cost.
