Media advisory: University of Arizona to host first two rounds of NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament

TUCSON, Ariz. — For the second time in program history, the University of Arizona women's basketball program will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will welcome North Carolina, Stephen F. Austin State University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to McKale Center as part of the Greensboro Region. Arizona, the No. 4 seed, will play in the NCAA Tournament on its home court for the first time since 1998.

Media are invited to McKale on Friday at 9:30 a.m. to learn more about what goes into hosting these tournament games.

Arizona will face UNLV on Saturday at 7 p.m. at McKale. The game will air on ESPN2 following the Stephen F. Austin-North Carolina matchup at 4:30 p.m.

The Wildcat women's team returns to the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive year, following the program's historic run to the championship game versus Stanford in San Antonio in 2021. In the 1998 NCAA tournament, the Adia Barnes-led Wildcats won both games in Tucson before losing to the University of Connecticut in the Sweet 16.
