- Media RSVP: Please RSVP to media_requests@list.arizona.edu by Friday, March 21, to reserve a media credential. Credentials will be available for pickup on March 25, beginning at noon at Lot No. 5073, 1010 E. South Campus Drive. Media should arrive and check in no later than 12:40 p.m.

TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona will host an installation ceremony for Suresh V. Garimella, the university's 23rd president, on Tuesday, March 25. Garimella, a University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, officially assumed the U of A presidency on Oct. 1, 2024.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. at Old Main, followed by a formal procession and ceremony at Centennial Hall. About 800 attendees are expected, and the entire 90-minute event will be streamed live on YouTube and live captioned.
The event will begin on the steps and veranda near the Berger Memorial Fountain on the west side of Old Main, where university leaders, students and other participants will don regalia for a ceremonial procession. The opening moments will also include a performance by the Pride of Arizona marching band and the U of A ROTC, a Native land acknowledgment reading and blessing, and remarks by Ron Marx, interim senior vice president for academic affairs and provost and the installation's emcee.
A reception with refreshments on the veranda of Old Main will follow the ceremony.
