May 9, 2019 Donated Dorm Items Will go on Sale Monday |

TUCSON, Ariz. — In an effort to reduce the number of items that go to the landfill when students move out of their University of Arizona dorms this week, UA Housing & Residential Life is partnering with the Salvation Army to collect and sell unwanted items. In previous years, the UA's Sustainable Move-out Program – nicknamed "Dodge the Dumpster" – collected as much as 85,850 pounds of household goods, food and recyclables, many of which were either sold to help fund the waste diversion program or donated to local nonprofit organizations. The UA will not hold a rummage sale this year as it has in the past. Instead, the items collected from the dorms will be available in local Salvation Army stores beginning Monday, May 13.
