The University of Arizona celebrated an expansion of its operations in the City of Chandler with a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday at The Johnathan, an upscale five-story office building in the city's downtown.

The new space will allow the university to offer graduate- and undergraduate-level classes from six colleges – Agriculture and Life Sciences, Education, Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Eller College of Management and the James E. Rogers College of Law – as part of the university's Near You Network, which provides affordable, accessible instruction to students across Arizona and beyond, allowing them to earn degrees without ever having to set foot on the University of Arizona main campus.

"The University of Arizona Near You Network is delighted to strengthen the educational partnership with our friends at the City of Chandler to provide expanded learning opportunities to Chandlerites," said Craig Wilson, vice provost of online, distance and continuing education. "As the City of Chandler continues to grow and attract new businesses and families, the Near You Network will continue to provide a solid education and top-level student support for Chandler-based Wildcats."
