Pipeline Improvement Project on Park Avenue and 4th Street has Begun
Information provided by Southwest Gas
A Southwest Gas pipeline improvement project will begin Sunday, May 19, on Park Avenue between 6th Street and 2nd Street on the UA campus.
A contractor for Southwest Gas will install new gas mains and service lines along the following streets: Park Avenue from 6th Street to 2nd Street; the west segment of South Campus Drive; 4th Street from Park Avenue to Santa Rita Avenue; and Lowell Street at Santa Rita Avenue.
The work will start May 19 at 8 p.m. when Park Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic between 6th Street and 2nd Street until 6 a.m. The evening closures of Park Avenue in the project area will continue Sunday nights through Wednesday nights for three weeks.
Daytime work on Park Avenue will begin at 6th Street and proceed north toward 2nd Street in segments where northbound Park Avenue lane closures will be in effect with flagging operations to direct traffic through the restricted area. Daytime work hours will be 6:0 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
Pipeline improvement work is scheduled to begin on 4th Street between Park Avenue and Santa Rita Avenue in mid-June. During the work on 4th Street, lane closures will be in effect and the street will be open to local traffic only.
The project is expected to last approximately 10 weeks and be complete before students return in the fall.
