U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Arizona Eller College of Management's management information systems program No. 1 among public universities in its latest list of graduate programs, with the College of Nursing and the James E. Rogers College of Law also appearing in the top 40.

"The incredible expertise of our faculty members and their commitment to prepare students for career success creates excellence throughout the University of Arizona," said UA President Robert C. Robbins. "I am very proud that the UA offers our students a quality education through graduate programs that are rightfully viewed among the nation's best."

The Eller College of Management continued its excellent showings in management information systems, moving up two spots to No. 3 overall, trailing only the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Carnegie Mellon University, and No. 1 among public universities. The McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship came in at No. 12 (No. 5 among public universities), with the UA's accounting program checking in at No. 41 (No. 16 among public universities). Its full-time MBA program saw a 17-spot increase to No. 52, while the part-time MBA program moved up eight spots to No. 52, as well.

Another top-10 ranking came in the College of Education's rehabilitation counseling program, where the UA tied for No. 4. Overall, the College of Education ranked tied for No. 64 among Best Education Schools.

Representing UA Health Sciences are the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health's program in public health (tied No. 32) and the College of Medicine – Tucson's programs in primary care (tied No. 62) and research (tied No. 65). The UA College of Nursing vaulted nine spots to No. 30 out of 198 programs on the Best Nursing Schools list.

The UA School of Government and Public Policy in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences was tied at No. 35 on the list of public affairs programs. 

The College of Law jumped two spots to No. 39 on the Best Law Schools ranking – a nine-position leap over the last two years. Specialties in health care law (tied No. 27), legal writing (tied No. 29), environmental law (tied No. 36), trial advocacy (tied No. 43), international law (tied No. 48), tax law (tied No. 55) and intellectual property (tied No. 77) also earned places on the U.S. News list.

The College of Engineering finished tied for No. 64 on the Best Engineering Schools list, with solid marks in the following subspecialties: agricultural (tied No. 24), industrial/manufacturing/systems (tied No. 24), aerospace/aeronautical/astronautical (tied No. 29), environmental (tied No. 35), civil (tied No. 36), electrical/electronic/communications (tied No. 38), computer (tied No. 45), mechanical (tied No. 52), biomedical/bioengineering (tied No. 56), materials (tied No. 57) and chemical (tied No. 64).

Each year, U.S. News ranks schools and programs in business, education, engineering, law, nursing and medicine. The rankings in these six areas are based on expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research and students.

Beyond the six disciplines ranked annually, U.S. News also periodically ranks programs in the sciences, social sciences, library sciences, humanities, health and many other areas based solely on the ratings of academic experts.

A number of other UA graduate programs appear on the U.S. News list, but their rankings were not subject to review in 2019.
