UA Prof Awarded $1.7 Million to Study Ecstacy
Terrence Monks, the head of the UA department of pharmacology and toxicology, has a five-year grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, part of the National Institutes of Health, to research the long-term effects of Ecstacy. The drug induces feelings of euphoria and affection, but is also thought, in some instances, to cause kidney failure, blood clots and stroke.
