Extra money raised will benefit charity. Daniel Wiegand is a past president of the UA Flying Club, which promotes flying as a career and a hobby.

UA alumna Dorothy Parvaz, a reporter for Al Jazeera's English-language channel in Qatar, was captured and interrogated for weeks while covering the civil war in Syria, then continued her reporting after being released. For her work and valor, Parvaz has been named the 2013 recipient of the McGill Medal for Journalistic Courage.
UA alumni Alyssa Samuelson, Stephanos Antoniades and Olga Tsoudis are gearing up to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. The three are engaged in an effort to raise funds for children living in orphanages. "I have greatly enjoyed giving back while being able to learn more about and experience different cultures," said Samuelson, who graduated with a business administration degree in 2000.
