Miller is being remembered for her compassionate care and using her own experience as a cancer survivor to strengthen her work as a rheumatologist and educator. "It's rare for a physician, particularly one in academia, to stay in one place for such a long time," says Daniel Persky, associate director of clinical investigations at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. "But Meg enjoyed living in the Southwest. She enjoyed the people in the Southwest. And she dedicated her life to serving them in various capacities – as a clinician, as a teacher and as a mentor."

Whether they worked the desk at a dorm or connected remotely from another continent, graduating students say their campus jobs gave them not only professional experience, but also helped them discard their assumptions about others and instead feel more empathy for everyone around them.

The University fares well in the QS World University Rankings, "Convo With Cantwell" has been rescheduled and LQP returns June 9.

Chris Kopach, assistant vice president of facilities management, spent much of his silver anniversary year at the helm of the University's much-praised vaccination site. Kopach – one of 1,122 employees being celebrated during the 2021 Service Awards – and other FM team members say their colleagues and the community are to credit for their long careers.

In this letter to the campus community, Elizabeth "Betsy" Cantwell, senior vice president for research and innovation, describes how the University's research enterprise has thrived despite the challenges brought by the pandemic. "To our amazing faculty and staff: Thank you for your herculean efforts to advance the University's research enterprise and impact in Arizona, the U.S. and around the world," she writes.

The asteroid Bennu is almost always on Zoe Zeszut's mind. Not only has her career at the University revolved around the OSIRIS-REx mission, but her hobbies have, too. "I like that I can bring work into hobbies and enjoy thinking about it even when I'm off the clock," says Zeszut, who has created a series of paintings that meld images of Bennu's surface with colorful depictions of the mythical birds for whom the asteroid's features have been named.

The University's newest HSI fellows will begin work in September, focusing on projects that range from inspiring Hispanic students to go to law school to creating pathways for diversifying faculty. "It's incredible to think that we are launching our fourth cohort," says Marla Franco, assistant vice provost for HSI initiatives. "The program has had a ripple effect, as past cohorts have been inspired to strengthen our institutional efforts as an HSI."

The 2021 Commencement is unlike any the University has ever attempted. In this Q&A, Heather Lukach, assistant vice president for presidential events and university ceremonies, talks about how it came together. "This whole effort has shown the campus community's commitment to our University values, like adaptation – in staying open-minded and working with partners to move forward – and determination, in showing real grit to make the decision to move forward with in-person ceremonies," Lukach says. "And, of course, compassion. We wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for wanting to recognize and celebrate our students."

To achieve the goal, TLA is calling on campus inventors to share their ideas for novel innovations that could solve real-world problems. "It all starts with a conversation between the inventor and one of our team experts," says Doug Hockstad, who leads TLA. "Just come and talk to us and we'll work with you to uncover the greater impact potential of your discoveries."
