Pearl Harbor Remembrance: ROTC Ceremony and Vigil

When

Recent

The University of Arizona Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps and Air Force Reserve Officer Trainer Corps will honor the memory of lives lost at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

The NROTC will host their annual USS Arizona ceremony at 7 a.m. at the USS Arizona Mall Memorial. The AFROTC will hold a 12-hour silent vigil from 5 a.m.-5 p.m. along the memorial walkway, located between the Student Union Memorial Center and the Chemistry building.

For ceremonial purposes, the AFROTC Honor Guard cadets will dress in full uniform and carry unloaded, replica rifles.

University community members and visitors are welcome to attend the memorial events.

The University dedicated the USS Arizona Mall Memorial in 2016 to honor the sacrifices of the soldiers, and others, killed during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The memorial traces a full-scale outline of the ship's deck and includes a brick plaza with panels and bronze medallions displaying the name, rank and home state of each of the 1,177 sailors and Marines who died on the ship.
