The Life & Work Connections Family Resource Map has just been updated to include 12 new lactation spaces, which are part of the University's Lactation Space Expansion Project.
The project, which was coordinated by the Office of University Initiatives and Life & Work Connections, has brought the total number of University lactation spaces to 35. The additions include the first lactation room in McKale Memorial Center, which was unveiled earlier this month at a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by University President Robert C. Robbins, women's basketball head coach Adia Barnes, and Celina Ramirez, vice president of university initiatives.
"The University has always been very proactive on providing a family-friendly environment, and this is one example," said Lourdes Rodriguez, childcare and family resources manager for Life & Work Connections. "It's for employees, it's for students, it's for visitors. The map can help you coordinate and plan your time on campus and make your life as a family member and a professional working at the University easier."
The interactive, mobile-friendly Family Resource Map has icons representing six types of resources: adult changing stations, changing stations in men's restrooms, changing stations in women's restrooms, lactation spaces, highchairs and family restrooms.
Clicking on the icons will display room numbers for each as well as any additional information the user may need to access the space. Filter options on the map allow users to search for certain types of resources or to search by building. The map also allows users to search College of Medicine – Phoenix locations as well as University locations in Yuma, La Paz County and other areas around Arizona.
The map will continue to evolve in response to from employees, students and other users, Rodriguez said.
"We rely on everybody's input to report new sites, changes, updates or even any problems so we can address them with building managers," Rodriguez said.
Those with feedback can email lifework@arizona.edu.
If your building has a family resource that isn't listed on the map, you can submit a request to have it included.
