Treat yourself with discounted gifts during Festivus

If you need some athletic wear to complete this year's feats of strength, or University-branded notebooks and pens to write out your grievances, you can stock up at a discount thanks to the University BookStores Festivus event. (If none of this makes sense to you, see this Wikipedia entry.)

The annual faculty and staff appreciation sale, which is fully in person this year, takes place at the BookStore at the Student Union Memorial Center on Nov. 18 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Faculty and staff can take advantage of 40% off one item and 25% off the remainder of their purchases. A CatCard is required to receive the discount.

From 3-6 p.m., there will be refreshments, entertainment and drawings for prizes, including Ray-Ban sunglasses, a Google Nest Audio, apparel and sports memorabilia. Employees can enter by having their CatCard scanned at a register, regardless of whether they make a purchase. You do not have to be present to win.

The popular pre-shop opportunity is returning this year. Employees can visit the BookStore from Nov. 14-17 and place items on hold. They will be ready for pick-up and purchase at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.

You can find more information, including exclusions and other restrictions, in this UAnnounce memo.

Serve up holiday stress relief with Thanksgiving To-Go dinners

If you're looking to lighten your culinary load this Thanksgiving, Arizona Student Unions again has you covered with Thanksgiving To-Go dinners. Family feasts, individual meals, a la carte options and baked goods are all available.

Employees can place an order through Nov. 22 online or in person at On Deck Deli in the food court at the Student Union Memorial Center. You can pick up your meal at On Deck Deli or the circle drive north of the Student Union on Nov. 23 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. The family meal is $109 plus tax and will feed up to eight people. This year's package includes a starter, four options for the entree, seven side dishes, rolls and three dessert options.

Any individual item can be purchased a la carte through Nov. 22 and picked up Nov. 23 at the same locations and times as the family meals.

Individual meals are now available for purchase at the Arizona Market in the Student Union Memorial Center, the Global Market in the Global Center or the Highland Market on the corner of Sixth Street and Highland Avenue. You can pick up the meals at the time of purchase or order ahead of time to pick up on Nov. 23. The meals are $12.99 plus tax and include a main dish of either roasted Tom turkey or the vegetarian option of fall pot pie.

This year's Thanksgiving Bake Sale takes place Nov. 21-23. You can shop online or in person across from On Deck Deli from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. each day.

Book Drive

The annual University of Arizona Book Drive is underway.

You can donate new or gently used children's books at University BookStores and A-Store locations. The book drive supports Make Way for Books, an early literacy nonprofit that provides programming and resources to children throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona.

The campaign runs through Dec. 22.
