Provost and Chief Academic Officer Patricia Prelock and Chief AI and Data Science Officer David Ebert have convened a new Task Force for AI in Education to help define responsible, human-centered uses for using artificial intelligence at the University of Arizona.

The task force will produce universitywide principles to guide decisions about AI in education at the University of Arizona, along with an action plan covering curriculum, assessment, policy and instructor support. The group will draw on research, best practices and existing university efforts, along with input from faculty, students, staff and academic leaders.

The principles and action plan will focus on students and instructors in the university's on-campus undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs. Jennifer Savary, associate director of AI for education and curriculum and associate professor of marketing in the Eller College of Management, chairs the group. Its members will include faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate student representatives, who will soon be appointed.

A draft of the principles will be available for feedback in December, and the task force welcomes input from across the university community.
