Career Conversations Paused Until Fall
The university is reviewing Career Conversations, the annual career growth and planning cycle, to strengthen and clarify the process for performance feedback. As a result, Career Conversations will not take place during the typical April–June timeline this year. Instead, the university is targeting an August–October period for 2026.
This review will reflect employee feedback and U of A's commitment to ensuring all employees have access to regular, meaningful feedback and a clear path for growth. The goal is an annual model that's consistent, easy to navigate, and designed to help every employee thrive.
What to expect
In the coming months, Human Resources will share more details and provide training and guidance for supervisors and employees before the new process begins.
You don't need to take action at this time. Please do not begin the Career Conversations process this spring. If you have already started, you will be able to carry that work forward into the new process.
In the meantime, we encourage supervisors to continue having regular growth and development conversations with their teams. Feedback does not need to wait for a formal process.
