Internet memes, sounds of the likes of Nicki Minaj and also Dante's skilled practice of throwing insults in his poetry are among the topics to be discussed during the UA's Humanities Week. Beginning Oct. 15., the week will highlight the expertise of University faculty members who will draw connections between research and some of the most visible national and international issues of our day.
Inadequate sleep is increasingly common among college students. Lee Ann Hamilton and David Salafsky, colleagues at the UA Campus Health Service's Health Promotion and Preventive Services unit, studied the sleeping patterns of University students and have been educating students about the pitfalls of maintaining a sleep-deprived schedules.
Students and UA employees using CatCA$H, which works like a debit account through the CatCard, can now make purchases off campus. Arizona Student Unions is collaborating with dozens of Tucson retail locations to offer the safe and convenient service.
As a week-long series on the UA's land-grant mission comes to a close, a look to the future suggests the University will become ever more embedded in communities beyond the campus. One important element of the land-grant mission that will continue to live on is the UA's invested positive imprint on the growth and development of counties, cities and neighborhoods through interdisciplinary and collaborative initiatives.
