UA Earns Several Strong Marks in Latest US News Ranking

The University of Arizona is one of the nation's top public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The UA finished tied for No. 53 among public universities and tied for No. 117 overall in the 2020 Best Colleges Guide, released Monday. The UA's overall score of 50 is the university's highest mark in eight years.

U.S. News & World Report ranks each institution on the basis of student outcomes (35% of overall score), faculty resources (20%), expert opinion (20%), financial resources (10%), student excellence (10%) and alumni giving (5%). The UA posted significant improvements in its six-year graduation rates, which contributed to the rise in the university's student outcomes category and its overall score.

The Eller College of Management posted top marks in management and information systems, placing fourth overall and No. 2 among public universities. Eller also finished No. 16 overall in entrepreneurship (No. 8 among public universities) and No. 31 among undergraduate business programs (20th among public universities).

The UA also earned recognition in the following categories:

  • A+ Schools for B Students: No. 24
  • Best Engineering Schools: No. 54
  • Top Performers on Social Mobility: No. 70 (new category)
  • Best Undergraduate Teaching: No. 76
  • Best Colleges for Veterans: No. 80
  • Best Value: No. 131
