UArizona Vaccination Site Accepting Walk-ins, Will Have New Hours on May 10

TUCSON, Ariz. – Walk-ins are still being accepted at the University of Arizona's COVID-19 vaccination POD, or point of distribution.

Anyone can show up to the POD without an appointment and be vaccinated. Through May 2, the POD will have two options: a drive-thru clinic on the University of Arizona Mall and a sit-down clinic at the Ina E. Gittings Building, 1737 E. University Blvd.

On May 3, due to the heat, the university will discontinue its drive-thru clinic and move all vaccination operations inside the Gittings Building.

Those who would prefer to schedule an appointment at the UArizona POD can still do so by visiting podvaccine.azdhs.gov. Tomorrow, at 11 a.m., the University of Arizona will open 7,000 first-dose COVID-19 vaccination appointments for the following week. Additional same-day appointments will be available every day based on capacity. Those who need assistance with scheduling can call 602-542-1000 or 844-542-8201 for help in English or Spanish.

To date, more than 200,000 vaccine doses have been administered at the UArizona POD.

As more people are vaccinated and demand decreases, the university's state POD will be adjusting its operating hours, and June 25 will be the POD's last day.

The POD hours are:

  • Through May 9, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily
  • May 10-22, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily
  • May 23, CLOSED
  • May 24-28, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily
  • May 29-31, CLOSED
  • June 1-25, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday (second doses only)

Those who need help navigating options at the UArizona POD can call the COVID Ambassador Team hotline at 520-848-4045 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily or email covidhelp@arizona.edu.
