TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona's Sustainable Move-Out Program rummage sale, nicknamed "Dodge the Dumpster," is returning for its third year.
The sale will take place at the UA Paul and Alice Baker Distribution Center, 3740 E. 34th St., from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
This year, CatCard holders will receive a 10 percent discount on their total amount when the card is presented at the time of purchase.
More cash registers and support staff have been added this year in an effort to significantly reduce wait times.
"Dodge the Dumpster" is supported through a grant from the UA Green Fund. The UA Offices of Housing & Residential Life, Sustainability, Procurement and Contracting Services and the UA Student Green Team partnered to keep these items from the residence halls out of the garbage.
In past years, the program has collected more than 85,000 pounds of household goods, food and recyclables. Many of the collected items will be donated to local non-profit organizations, but the majority will be resold to the public at a low cost during the rummage sale.
