The University of Arizona today released its official fall 2025 census, highlighting a new enrollment strategy that restores traditional first-year class sizes and substantially increases the percentage of Arizona students.

The approach prioritizes investments in academic support, along with the resources and experiences that help students progress, graduate on time and pursue a lifetime of opportunity.

"Our new enrollment management strategy intentionally prioritizes student preparedness and long-term success," said Patricia Prelock, provost and chief academic officer. "Rather than focusing strictly on growth, we are expanding access, particularly for Arizona students, and ensuring that those we admit can succeed and graduate prepared for strong careers with as little debt as possible."

The U of A is expanding pathways for Arizona students through strengthened transfer opportunities with Pima Community College, Cochise College and Arizona Western College, while also building stronger partnerships with tribal colleges. Most students begin at the main campus in Tucson, while others start through Arizona Online or the University of Arizona Global Campus.

Once admitted, the focus shifts to retention and timely graduation, with every student offered a well-rounded experience that reflects the university's strategic imperatives and land-grant mission.

"We're committed to supporting every Wildcat's journey, academically, personally and as engaged members of their communities," Prelock said. "We are investing our resources to ensure students have a transformative experience. That could mean working alongside Regents Professors or Fulbright Scholars on research projects, gaining real-world experience through paid internships with Arizona employers, or exploring new cultures thanks to a $20 million gift that expands study abroad programs. We are committed to fostering well-being, belonging and engagement, preparing students to graduate ready to make a difference in the world."
